We are now well in to 2016 and I have totally neglected my blog. Oops! My intention was to get back in the blogging groove once the new year rolled around but that hasn’t exactly gone the way I planned… until now! I’m determined to start blogging consistently again. I made some changes on The Freckled Runner that I know will make me keep me writing.
I moved to a self-hosted site which I’m excited about even if it has been a headache to figure out. I’m kind of a rookie when it comes to this stuff. I got a new theme which I’m loving! The bad news is I’m pretty sure that in the process of making the transfer, I lost all of my followers/subscribers. So, if you were following before & want to follow again, please subscribe!
When I first started this blog, it was a way to document my journey to run a marathon in every state and connect with other runners. I’ve decided that I’m going to start writing not only about my running journey, but also more on healthy living, exercise ideas, health/wellness tips, healthy recipes as well as my journey to becoming the happiest, healthiest, and most fit version of myself. I have been doing a lot of self-discovery and continue to grow as a person everyday so this blog will continue to evolve with me. Whatever I’m writing about is probably my obsession of the week or something new that I recently tried.
I feel like there’s a direct correlation between the amount of blogging that I do and when I’m consistently running & working out/eating well. I’m not sure if any blogging followers can relate, but I was having a tough time writing if my lifestyle didn’t reflect what I was supposed to be blogging about. For example, around the time that I stopped blogging last year is a time when I was not running enough, eating that well, or taking good care of myself. This is why I’m ready to start blogging again since I feel like I have been doing pretty good with keeping up with my exercise routine and healthy eating habits. Plus, I just miss blogging!
Sometimes I found that I was putting too much pressure on myself when it came to blogging. What can I say, I’m an all or nothing kinda girl. However, I’m going to try to take an easy approach to blogging this time around. While I plan on trying to post as much as possible, I’m also really going to try not to beat myself up over it if I don’t get the posts out like I want to.
Okay now with that out of the way, time for some updates!
Bruin -> My puppy is so big now. I just love him to pieces. He gives me a ‘hug’ every night when I get home from work & I wake up to his cute little face snuggling with me every morning. We’re still working on training but he’s the best.
Running -> Last time I posted, I was about a month out from the Disney Marathon. My training was pathetic which led to the inevitable happening. I received my first DNF. It is what it is. More on that to come in a future race recap post.
I’m happy to say that I’ve been running consistently (for the most part) since the beginning of the year. I’m a little over 6 weeks out from the Lake Placid marathon and can’t wait to cross New York off my list!
Life -> As I mentioned above, I’ve been doing a lot of self-discovery and trying to figure out my life. One of the things I’ve come to realize is my true passion is fitness & healthy living. I’ve began studying for Personal Training Certification through ACE. I’m so excited about it and what’s to come! Other than that, I’m happy that the nice weather is here. I’m looking forward to the next couple of months because we have so many things planned!
