Lack of energy has been a big problem for me lately. I’ve been trying to fuel up in the morning with foods that will make me feel energized & ready to take on the day. This smoothie bowl does the trick! It’s perfect for a post-morning run treat. Plus, it’s like ice cream for breakfast.. who doesn’t want to eat ice cream for breakfast? Enjoy <3
Berry Banana Green Smoothie Bowl
1 medium ripe banana, previously frozen
1/2 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries – use strawberries/raspberries for a greener smoothie, darker berries for a purple smoothie
1/4 ripe avocado
1 large handful spinach
1 small handful kale
1 – 1 1/2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk (will depend on if your berries are frozen)
1 Tbsp flax seed meal
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
2 Tbsp almond or peanut butter (optional)
fresh fruits -> berries, banana, pineapple, etc.
unsweetened shredded coconut
whatever you want -> sky’s the limit!
- Add all smoothie ingredients to blender (or nutribullet) then blend until creamy & smooth. Add more non-dairy milk (or water) to thin.
- Taste & adjust flavor as needed -> add more banana (or maple syrup/agave nectar) for sweetness, more spinach for a bright green smoothie, or non-dairy milk for creaminess.
- For more protein, add some nut butter!
- Pour into a serving bowl and top with your favorite toppings!
Best when fresh! Leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to 1-2 days… chances are you’ll finish it on day 1 though 🙂
